Zelo from group BAP, who safely arrived on Earth just a year ago, mentioned the dream he wanted to share with and wish for his friends with the arrival of the new school year. On the afternoon of February 24 at the Muse Live of the Olympic Hall during BAP’s press conference, this was his short answer to the question “what he wanted to say to the fans with the coming of the new school year”.
BAP, like their title song “One Shot”, through the same title and lyrics, says they wish to give encouragement to the students. During the press conference, BAP said that the song “One Shot”, like its title and lyrics, means “One shot. One step”. Isn’t life all about one chance? They also added that they wish the students would not spend the new school year in vain.
The reason why this encouragement from BAP would become a big strength for the students in the new school year? Because BAP is an “evidence for hope” for being able to receive much attention after only a short period of time. After only debuting in January of last year, BAP already have 6 albums under their name. They received 13 rookie awards from domestic and international K-POP award-giving bodies. Moreover, in a little over just a year, they captivated the hearts of more than 8000 fans at the Olympic Hall last February 23rd and 24th.
These guys, who are growing in their career, are also upgrading their dreams. During the press conference, they said, “Last year, our goal was a rookie award. We are very grateful that we were able to achieve that goal. This year, we want to have a world tour and let them know about our music.”
During the press conference, they said it is a mistake if people call BAP a group made to become idols. With the concert entitled “BAP Live on Earth Seoul”, they participated in the planning of this concert, starting with the opening act as 6 aliens who landed on Earth. “We will deliver a movie-like concert. we landed on Earth to let the people hear our music,” they said as they talked about their plans.
At the concert, leader Bang Yongguk performed his self-written and self-composed song “Sacramental Confession”, as well as the members’ unit stages that radiated their hidden charms and boasted their talents.The concert’s mood went up with Daehyun and Youngjae’s “Price Tag” and Zelo and Jongup’s “Teach me (how to dougie)” and “Jump”. This concert had a huge spaceship that landed on stage, with the members revealed themselves as “aliens” that made the crowd excited. From “Warrior” down to “Rain Sound”, they performed every song live.
BAP, in comparison to other rookie groups, have attracted attraction and grew, but unfortunately, their music lack appeal to the general public. Regarding this, they said, “Rather than calling it unpopular among the general people, we think many people abroad likes our music. We will attempt to make music that are appealing to the mass for our Korean fans.”
Himchan, who was wearing a cast for the concert, said, “I am aiming for a fast recovery, so I won’t be able to participate in every song for this concert. I feel sorry for not being able to perform with the members”. “As I watched the members from outside the stage,” he added his thoughts of being an “audience”, ”it really felt like watching a movie.”
BAP’s voice is also heard in societal issues, hence they were given the name “concept idols”. Recently, it has been reported that they donated a water pump in Africa through UNICEF in the name of their fandom “BAP’s BABY”. Even in this concert, they have revealed their color as group that advocates peace. During the concert, before their “One Shot” stage, they showed a video that showcased their opposition to war. Bang Yongguk said, “I think idols are not stars, but role models and icons of good image to young kids.”
